Today was our last day in Rome. Tomorrow we rise very early, and return home to Denver. This is a quick post before heading to bed for tomorrow. The day started with us attending the Papal Audience. For John, this is his second pope to see in person (JPII and Pope Leo XIV), for me third Pope (JPII, Francis and Leo XIV). We spent the afternoon touring the Vatican Museum - lots to talk about there - but perhaps another time. We finished today by praying Liturgy of the Hours in the Basilica of St. Peter's.
A quick recap of our journey. Since leaving Denver we have flown 7125 miles by air and visited 5 countries (Germany, Greece, Malta, Italy, the Vatican), We have sailed 356 miles by sea, walked 215,079 steps (about 105 miles), Cycled 30 km of Patmos, Read 4 epistles from St. Paul and the 2nd half of the Acts of the Apostles, visited 4 Monasteries, 2 Catacombs, 5 Basilicas, and swam in the Aegean and Mediterranean seas and invented 2 new past-times.
It has been a great journey - filled with fun, some Basic Silliness, reflections and inspiration. Looking forward to heading home (only another 5570 miles to go).
